# \[Civilian] Lifegaurd

**Any civilian may play as a lifeguard with no application or invitation required.**

The Lifeguard Service is a multi-purpose volunteer rescue and first-aid agency composed of unpaid civilian volunteers. Any civilian may undertake becoming a Lifeguard without any invitation or application requirement. 

The Lifeguard Service is responsible for:

* Drownings
* First Aid
* Water Rescue

The Lifeguard Service may:

* Use lights and sirens when responding to an emergency call within their jurisdiction
* Close roads temporarily for safety reasons.
* Operate in the areas of: Vespucci Beach & Pier, Paleto Bay Beach, The Alamo Sea, and Chumash Beach & Pier.
